Ightenhill Primary School

"To be the best that we can be"

Our football club is open to all children in years 3-6 and training takes place every Monday night with Mr Hughes and Mr Burrows. Children learn new skills before applying them to game situations. For competitive players, central venue leagues start in February. Children selected for the team play local schools in a three-stage tournament. In addition to this, friendly matches are organised whenever possible with local schools who we have worked hard with to establish links.

Town team trials
Three of our most talented footballers had trials for the town team. This is an event where 60 elite footballers from schools in Burnley and Padiham compete for 13 places in the town team. Well done to Jack, George and DJ, who represented Ightenhill.

Outstanding achievement

Following a second trial, we are delighted to announce that Jack was selected to represent our town team. We look forward to seeing how you get on - well done Jack!

Hartley Cup

Our first football fixture took place last night against Padiham Primary School in the Hartley Cup. After a promising start, Padiham secured their chances to come back from a 1-0 deficit to first equalise then proceed to score two more goals, putting us 3-1 down. Constant pressure from Ightenhill resulted in two goals making the score 3-3 at full time. Progressing to penalties, outstanding goalkeeping left it all to play for before George scored the winning penalty. An excellent performance from a very promising team - well done!
