Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies

You will need:

-125g butter, softened

-100g light brown soft sugar

-125g caster sugar

-1 egg, lightly beaten

-1 teaspoon vanilla extract

-200g chocolate chips (any flavour)

Depending on the how you would like your cookies, you can leave them in the oven for around 10 minutes, they will be soft and gooey. If you leave them in for a few minutes longer, they will be hard and crunchy. You can decide how you prefer the have them. I have made a few of both! Have a look at the pictures below to see the difference in colour for the cookies that have been in the oven slightly longer.

Before you begin, ask an adult to preheat the oven to 180 degrees, gas mark 4.

Measure the butter and both sugars into a bowl.
Mix until smooth.
Add the egg and vanilla extract.
Now, add the flour.
Mix this all in together.
You might want to get your hands in there!
Give it a good mix until it forms a dough.
Now, add the chocolate chips!
(Try not to eat them along the way)
You should be able to form a ball with your dough.
That is when you know it's ready to seperate.
If you can do that, roll it into a sausage shape.
Separate the sausage into small equal pieces.
Roll these pieces into small balls.
Place on a baking tray making sure they have space
Ask an adult to place in the oven for 10 minute
After 10 minutes, ask an adult to take them out.
Leave to cool for a few moments.
Once cooled, ask an adult to place them on a rack.
Here they will cool and go nice and crispy!
I like to eat them when they're still warm!
