Another one bites the dust

Hi Class 8,

This week is the last week of term before summer and I've got some fun news! On Friday, we got another new addition to our family. This is Puddle. He was found in a puddle in the middle of a country lane by Mr B and Mr Hughes. The vet said he had been abandoned by his mother and that at five weeks old, he was very poorly and weak. He is extremely skinny, as he has barely eaten anything in the wild, and his stomach is very swollen, because he has worms. However, the vet has given him some medication and we have given him a lot of treats and love (but Otis hasn't yet)...oops! Otis likes to play fight with him and thinks that Puddle is his toy but Puddle loves any attention that he gets off Otis. I'm sure that they will be best friends in no time!

A trip down memory lane

Hi Class 8,

This week I have been looking through old photographs of when I was a child. I managed to find an album where I was 10 years old and in Year 5. This was a big year for myself. I played Robin Hood in the school play, and Leeds also were relegated from the Premier League and have been struggled to get back ever since!

I hope you enjoy these photos of myself, one of them is a young Mr Walmsley dressed as Robin Hood and the other is myself and my older brother at the beach at St. Annes near Blackpool (please do not laugh at my hair style)...

Please do not hesitate to email me if you need help with our online work at:

Reminder: This week is Healthy Living week. Please use the link below to access some of their activities.

Stay safe, I miss you all!

Time for a walk

Hello Class 8,

This week has been a big step for Otis. He has started going for walks with myself around our house, so that he gets used to the local area. Otis loves to explore and chases leaves on his walks. He just needs to remember to stay away from those nasty, big cats.... he isn't scared of them but he should be!

Please send me an email with an update of what you have been up to (if you haven't already) at:

I miss you all! Stay safe,

Writing Instructions

Hi Class 8,

I hope that you are all okay and are managing to get outdoors a little bit more to keep your brains fresh from all of our online work.

As you can see, there are sunflowers growing in my garden. I am curious to see if anybody in Class 8 is growing any plants or vegetables in their garden and would like you to write me a set of instructions of how to grow a plant? You can send me your instructions via email at:

Raising a Kitten

Hi Class 8,

I cannot believe how long it has been since I last had the pleasure of teaching you! But do not panic... you can still email me at:

This week I haven't done much to report, other than looking after Otis, as he is crazy! He is starting to grow rapidly and is much more adventurous with his exploring - he can now jump and touch the handle of the window! Here are some pictures of him for you to enjoy.

Please stay safe and I miss you all,

Mr Walmsley x

Great British Bake Off

Hi Class 8,

I am really missing you all very much and I wish we could just go back to normal, but your patience and hard work is more important than ever right now, so keep it up! This week I decided to bake some cookies. Now, the cookies do not look very tasty, but I can promise you that they were amazing! We used milk chocolate, white chocolate and M & Ms to make the cookies gooey and full of flavour - mmm!

Can you bake something this week and send me a picture? You could even write me a recipe so I could try to make them myself! I would love to see how you are all getting on at home. Make sure to contact me via email at:

Stay stafe,

Kitten Alert

Hi Class 8,

This week I have a new task to keep me busy at home.. looking after our new kitten. Meet Otis - he is only 7 weeks old and is extremely mischievous. He spends most of his time running around doing flips, attacking my feet and hissing at his brother Charlie when he gets too close. I am sure that they will become the best of friends. I hope that you're all safe and keeping busy. Don't forget to listen to our class read video this week, which includes chapter 6 and 7 of James and the Giant Peach.

Stay safe,

Mr Walmsley

When you send me a picture, I will email parents back to confirm that you would like the picture sharing on our class page. Do not worry if you do not want them sharing on the page, you can still email myself pictures to keep me updated with what you are doing.
