"To be the best that we can be"

DO Try This at Home Activity Pack

We hope that this activity pack will help spark conversations with your child about the world around them and stimulate their curiosity. This activity pack is part of a new campaign from the Institute of Physics – Limit Less. Now, more than ever, we need to support our children and young people to help fulfil their potential. Studying physics opens up a huge range of opportunities for further study and careers and it’s never too early to start having conversations with your child about their future.

Support for home learning - National Maritime Aquarium

The National Maritime Aquarium is now offering free home learning sessions, with 2 live lessons being delivered every Friday over the coming weeks - the first is 20 minutes of 'Deep Science'; the second 'Mermaid Tales' is a 15 minute short story suitable for EYFS.
Details about their home learning offering can be found here.

Upcoming themes include:

29th Jan – Nautical Navigation

5th Feb – Ocean Mysteries

12th Feb – Megafauna

19th Feb – Life Cycles

26th Feb – Looking after the Ocean

(Earlier themes of Underwater Volcanoes and Creature Classification are available on YouTube, where all sessions remain to be viewed at any time after the session is delivered).

The lessons are delivered via their Youtube Channel here.

These activities and investigations are designed so that children aged 7+ can tackle them independently, with just a little help from an adult to get started. All activities have built-in questions to get children thinking, as well as challenges to take their learning further. Once they’ve tried the main activity, children might like to invite their parents to join them in these additional challenges, and younger children could also join in the fun with support from an adult or older sibling.
