Wednesday  20th January

Phonics

Today’s phonics lesson will be on zoom at 10.30am. In this lesson I will recap the sounds from the previous lessons and focus on the sounds c, k, u and b. We will be reading the green words: kit, mud, get, bad, cup, up. We will then have a go at writing some words so please have a pencil and some paper ready with you. If you cannot join us for the zoom session, please practise reading and writing these words when you can. This lesson can be adapted as needed for your child by only writing a couple of words or by using the words to write a sentence or two.

English

Please complete the reading comprehension activity. This will be in the portfolio section titled ‘Reading comprehension activity– Wednesday 20th January’.

Maths

In this lesson, we will explore the concept of subtraction as take away through telling 'first, then and now' stories.

Please complete an addition activity. I have put 2 different addition activities on for Wednesday. One is ‘additions up to 10’ and the second one is ‘additions up to 20’. Please choose the one which you feel is most appropriate for your child. This will be in the portfolio section titled ‘addition to 10– Wednesday 20th January’ or ‘addition to 20 – Wednesday 20th January’.

I have also put a subtraction activity for the children to have a go at too. Please see ‘subtraction – Wednesday 20th January’.

At 2.30pm there will be a zoom maths session. In this lesson it will be number talk and subtracting numbers. Please have a pencil and some paper and 10 countable objects ready.

Understanding the World (Healthy Eating)

In this set of lessons we learn about how to eat a healthy, balanced diet. In this lesson with Miss Hughes, we learn the importance of a healthy diet. We learn about the importance of different food groups and end the lesson by designing a plate of healthy food.
