Ightenhill Primary School

"To be the best that we can be"

Week Beginning 15th June

Hello Class 7,

Another busy Thursday at school for me this week. During half term week (23rd-31st May) it was National Children's Gardening Week. With this in mind, I decided to use the Lancashire Learning Pack with the key stage 2 children to look at how things can be grown, no matter how limited the space. First, I raided my cupboards and found some potatoes which I bought from the supermarket last week. These potatoes were past their best and were a bit squishy! I took them into school to see if we can use these to grow new potatoes! The children thought that the potatoes would need soil and water to grow so I put some potatoes in soil in a bag and watered them and I put some potatoes in a bag with no soil and water. Next week, we will look at them and see how they have changed. How do you think they will change? Which potatoes do you think would grow?

We also took a leaf and made it into a character. Do you think you can make one too? Some children did leaf rubbings as well. If you would like to complete these activities, then click on the following links below. I have also posted these links on the 'Activities and Challenges' part of this class page as well.

Remember to complete your Purple Mash 2Do's and TTRockstars every day. Don't forget to email me any work you have completed or any other photographs using the email ightenhillclass7@ightenhill.lancs.sch.uk
