To be the best that we can be.
At Ightenhill, we value the importance of reading to children. We recognise how this models reading but it is also one of our favourite times of the day where we see the children laugh along, gasp in horror and occasionally shed a tear as we invest in the characters in the books we read - we really can escape in a good book! Reading aloud to the children allows them to hear how to read with expression and gives an additional opportunity for children to practise their wider reading skills such as predicting, summarising, questioning and clarifying. Here are some of the texts we are reading.
