Be Bright Be Seen

This morning, our local PCSOs came to talk to our Year 5 and Year 6 children about 'Be Safe, Be Seen'. The children learnt all about the importance of how to keep themselves safe now that the nights are getting darker earlier. ⭐️🌒

Here our some of our MP's with our local PCSOs.

Our Harvest Collection

Thank you to everyone who brought in a donation for the Harvest collection this year!

Fundraising

School Council have a busy half term ahead.

Friday 6th October  - Red, White and Blue Day

Red, White & Blue Day is a national fundraising campaign that raises money in support of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, and The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. For 2017 the day will be celebrating women in the forces, commemorating the 100th birthday of the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS) and exploring all the roles women have taken up when serving their country.
In order to raise money for such a worth while cause the children are encouraged to dress in red, white and blue and if possible donate a pound. During the day all classes will participate in a range of activities to mark the importance of the day.

Wednesday 11th October - Harvest Festival

School Council are encouraging everyone to bring in a donation for our harvest festival assembly. At the end of the assembly all the donated items will be presented to Burnley Food Bank.

Friday 17th October - Children in Need

School Council have now arranged a school wide vote to find out what our fancy dress theme will be this year. The council felt that following our work on British Values and democracy, a school wide vote would be appropriate. The results of this vote will be announced shortly.

Elections 2017-2018

Over the first weeks back at school the children, who wished to put themselves forward for the School Council Representative role, have worked hard to gain support by giving presentations and making posters in class. They have advertised themselves and gained support from their classes.

Following this hard work, the children from classes 5 to 14 went to our very own Ightenhill polling station. The children had their official polling cards and ballot papers so that they could cast their vote.

All the children have enjoyed finding out about the UK voting system and were keen to cast their votes.

The children are now waiting in suspense to find out the results of the vote.
